| TThe Figure Eight Knot is a stopper knot. It is used at the end of a line to keep it from sneaking away. Often seen at the end of jib sheets.

Form a loop going over the standing part |
 |
Now loop under the standing part |
 |
Pass over the first part of the initial loop |
 |
And through the loop. Tighten and you're done. Remember - Over, Under, Over and Through. |
